48.62% voter turnout recorded in J%K DDC polls

In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the State Election Commissioner K. K Sharma, has informed that the second phase of District Development Council elections conducted successfully and peacefully across the UT and 48.62%  voter turnout was recorded.The Jammu division recorded an average voter turnout of 65.54% with Poonch district recording the highest percentage of 75.07% followed by Jammu district with 69.97%. The lowest turnout in Jammu division was in Kathua district which recorded 60.10%.The Kashmir Division recorded 33.34 % voter turnout. Bandipora district recorded highest polling at 69.66 % followed by Kupwara District at 58.69% and Ganderbal with around 49.14% polling in the second phase of elections.

-The Indian growth story continues to expand and it is  demonstrated by the trends in FPI, FDI and Corporate Bond Market flows. The trends indicate and underline the beliefs of investors in the strength and resilience of Indian economy. Ministry of Finance in a statement said that the last two months, October and November 2020, have witnessed a significant resurgence in Foreign Portfolio Investment-FPI inflows. It was  driven primarily by equity inflows resulting in the highest ever FPI inflows for a month for India. As of 28th November 2020, FPI inflows stood at 62 thousand 782 crore rupees . Of this, equity inflows amounted to 60 thousand 358 crore  rupees while FPI net investment in debt and hybrid was to the tune of 2,424 crore rupees.The Ministry said, FDI equity inflows has  touched over 30 thousand  million dollar up to September 2020 in 2020-21-which is 15 per cent  more than the corresponding period of 2019-20.

-In wake of rising cases of COVID 19, the Himachal cabinet has recommended the cancellation of the proposed winter Assembly session scheduled to begin next week at Dharamshala. The decision not to convene the proposed winter assembly session from December 7 to 11 was taken in a state cabinet meeting chaired by the chief minister Jai Ram Thakur here in Shimla, today. In view of the increasing number of fresh Covid cases, the state government has also decided to conduct random sampling to identify the affected persons at an early stage to avoid further infection.All the ministers have also been asked to ensure effective implementation of Him Surksha campaign in their assigned districts. The Cabinet has also decided that all the Ministers, MPs, MLAs would hold virtual functions instead of public gatherings by strictly adhering to the SOPs issued by the State Government from time to time.  It also decided that for all the social gatherings permission of local SDM would be mandatory.

-Socio-Culturual organisations of Bangladesh organised a demonstration in Dhaka on Tuesday demanding arrest of the hardline Islamist Hefazat-e-Islam chief Junaid Babunagari and Joint Secretary Mamunul Haque for opposing the installation of Banagabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s sculpture. The protest was organised by 60 Social and Cultural organisations under the banner of Ghatak Dal Nirmul Committee.The organisations formed a human chain and demanded the ban on the radical, communal and terrorism based politics of Jamat-e-Islami and Hefazat-e-Islam, reported the official news agency BSS. Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque asked the Hefazat-e-Islam to withdraw the statement opposing Bangabandhu’s sculpture. He warned that the statement could invite exemplary punishment. 

-Beijing's dilly dallying approach on WHO team's proposed visit to China to investigate the origins of Corona virus has come out in open. China is yet to give any confirmation on the visit of the WHO led international team for this purpose. COVID-19 cases first emerged in Wuhan.Responding to a question on WHO official Mike Ryan’s comments on WHO’s intention to send a team to Wuhan where the virus first emerged, Chinese foreign ministry said on Monday that its cooperation with WHO is steadily advancing with close communication and exchange and it has no further information to share. The WHO has for months been working to send a team of international experts. In May, the World Health Assembly (WHA), the governing body of the 194-member states of the WHO, approved a resolution to set up an independent inquiry to conduct an impartial, independent and comprehensive evaluation" of the international response as well as that of WHO. It also asked the WHO to investigate the "source of the virus and the route of introduction to the human population".
